NIA-MARIIS CONDUCTS SEMINAR-WORKSHOP ON EFFECTIVE WRITING AND PUBLIC SPEAKING FOR ITS EMPLOYEES

Communication plays a fundamental role. At the workplace, it enhances relationships within the agency and clients, increases employee engagement and their productivity.

Acknowledging the importance of good and effective communication skills, the NIA-Magat River Integrated Irrigation System (NIA-MARIIS) Management headed by its Department Manager A Engr. Wilfredo C. Gloria and with the support of its Division Managers Engr. Wilfredo S. Bumagat and Ms. Pilar G. Cabauatan of the Engineering and Operations Division and Administrative and Finance Division, respectively, conducted a Seminar-Workshop on Effective Writing and Public Speaking on February 6 to 7, 2020 at  Villa Diana Hotel, Cordon, Isabela.

Selected employees from different sections or unit of NIA-MARIIS Head Office learned from the resource speaker Dr. Leah S. Corpuz. Dr. Corpuz is considered as among the esteemed learning service provider specializing in Language Proficiency. Dr. Corpuz used the method of lecture and workshop to enhance the employees’ written and oral communication skills. The topics covered during the two (2)-day activity included: Basic Technical Rules in Written Communication which covers the basics of grammar, spelling, style, and structure in written English communication; Business Correspondence which include critiquing specimen letters, memos and emails; and Speaking for Specific Situations which includes being master of ceremony, hosting events, introduction of event speakers, facilitating, designing and delivering speeches.

As the participants perform during the workshop, participating employees applied what they had learned from Dr. Corpuz, With continuous reinforcement and encouragement, these employees can express their ideas more clearly, and their ability to craft various office communications will be enhanced. NIA-MARIIS believing that its greatest asset is its human resource, confident employees contributes to productivity as good and effective communication skills encourage more active participation during discussions and interactions whether at office or social activities.

The over-all program management was the Administrative and Finance Division headed by its manager, Ms. Pilar G. Cabauatan, with the assistance of the Institutional Development Section, headed by Mrs. Virginia Gamiao.
